In a nutshell...
Mobile App Design. Personal Project 2023.
Summary
The user problem for this project was how user interactive design could help people order through their bakery easier.
Team/Others
I was the sole designer.
Results
After this project, I found that while the idea is fun to think about, there would probably be some specific constraints design wise when it comes to customization of bakery items. More research would be needed in how customers interact in customization.
Constraints
Time was about 1 months of research and design

Theme Question
How can user interactive design help users order through their bakery easier and streamline the process for the bakery itself?

Intentions
The 10th Street Bakery mobile website design would help me understand how customers interact with ordering through bakeries. My intent was to let users select existing bakery items, design a tiered cake from an existing template, save simple bakery recipes, and schedule an appointment with a bakery designer. Effectiveness could be measured by tracking the entire process of each flow from start to finish on 10-15 patrons.
Wireframes
The entire wireframing process consisted of prototyping with different 2 groups of people to ensure that usability and ease of navigation was kept at the forefront of the design. It should be easy to select items, schedule appointments, and also save recipes.
Research and Current Tools
There were a few bakery websites that utilized different avenues of pre-ordering. However, out of current websites researched, there was only one current website that had a Cake Builder. When utilizing systems like the Cake Builder we would need to create a system which would facilitate the verification of supplies against a person placing an order. Current automated Inventory Management Systems could be used for supply/demand purposes.
The Cake Builder only creates a certain amount of tiers, decorations, and colors of fondant to limit the capacity and to create the opportunity to have more customization fees for production.
Other systems in the mobile website design establish occasion for in house meetings, recipes, and customer profiles for ordering faster and regular ordering. Each of these is more common these days, but the designs take the branding from 10th Street Bakery and re-think certain flows to help customers follow through the actions quicker and in a more satisfying way. The satisfaction of completing tasks should be considered priority. A satisfied experience with the tools create more regular consumers of products.

Conclusion and Insights
Bakery websites should look and feel as comfortable and inviting as the bakery itself.
While this project only included a mobile website booking system and the mobile high fidelity prototypes, this project would require more research, user testing, and user personas to proceed with more flows and more prototypes. User research really effects prototypes and end decisions, so this specifically would be an important step to conduct!
