Seat Reservation App's Snack reservation screen

Seat Reservation App

In a nutshell...

Mobile App Design. Google UX/UI certification 2022.

Summary

The user problem for this project was how user experience could help users find, select, and reserve seats for a theater.

Team/Others

I was the designer and had two rounds of user testing.

Results

After this project, I felt like the pleasant experience I designed was a common tool amongst many platforms and therefore most likely didn't need reproducing. I would need more research to understand what could be improved further.

Constraints

Time was about 3 months of research and design

Research Problem

The Google Certification course I took had us do three projects. My first one was to design a mobile app to create pleasant interaction when reserving seats for a movie theater - any movie theater.  Designed for users know exactly where they want to sit and need a specific seat next to aisles and exits because they want to be able to leave quickly without interrupting anyone.

Project Duration 2022 Jan - 2022 Apr

Goals

The movie seat reservation app will let users select and reserve seats in advance which will affect users who have specific seating requirements for certain reasons by letting them skip the in-theater ticket/movie selection/snack lines and save them the hassle of not having their desired seat. I would measure effectiveness by tracking the entire process from start to finish on 10-15 movie goers through the app.

Research Pain Points

1. Ordering Snacks Ahead

Users observed were frustrated by ordering snacks ahead of time.

2. Going back & Adding More

Users observed were frustrated by being unable to go back and add more seats/snacks to their order.

Persona: Isaiah Hernandez

Isaiah Hernandez is a firefighter who doesn't have a lot of free time, who needs to be able to sit in specific spots because he needs to be able to exit quickly.

Wireframes

The entire wireframing process consisted of prototyping with different groups of people to ensure that usability and ease of navigation was kept at the forefront of the design. It should be easy to select movies, movie theaters, and snacks.
